Microsoft has posted a knowledge base article on how to enable the DVD Library feature on a Windows Vista based Media Center. This feature is enabled by default in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. The DVD content is stored on the hard disk, and appears in the My Videos folder.

On Windows Vista-based Media Centers content is displayed in a DVD gallery. However, the DVD Library is not automatically enabled in Windows Media Center on a Windows Vista-based computer. This feature should allow you to play your commercial DVDs from the hard drive.

In previous versions of Windows the built-in Administrator account was enabled default (this was before Vista). This was a major security risk because hackers knew which they account they needed to attack to get complete access to the computer.

In Vista if you do a clean install (not an upgrade), this account has been disabled by default. If for some reason you need to reactivate this account (which I recommend against unless there is a good reason) the instructions are below:

    * Log on to the machine with a local administrator account (if you don't have one already then these instructions will not work for you).
    * In the Search field under the Start menu type MMC.EXE and press the Enter key. Press Continue button in the UAC prompt to open the console.
    * From the File menu, select "Add/Remove Snap-in".
    * In the "Available Snap-ins" list on the left, scroll down and select "Local Users and Groups", then press the Add button.
    * In the "Choose Target Machine" dialog box, select "Local Computer" press the Finish button, then press the OK button.
When you setup your computer you need to give it a name (such as: deathstar, homecomputer, etc.). If at a later time you want to change the name of your computer, follow the instructions below:

    * Log in to Vista with an account that has administrator privileges.
    * From the Start menu and right-click Computer and select Properties.
    * Under 'Computer Name, Domain, and Workgroup' section, click the 'Change settings' link.
    * On the Computer Name tab, press the Change... button.
    * Enter the new computer name in the field.
In Windows Vista

1. Click Start button Picture of the Start button
2. Click Control Panel
3. Choose System and Maintenance and then click System.
4. In the left pane, click Advanced system settings.
5.On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
6. Click the Advanced tab, and then, under Virtual memory, choose Change.
7. Click Custom to change the Initial size (MB) and Maximum size. See the hot tip in windows xp

Remember to choose the drive you would like to use to increase the virtual memory. In most cases it usually your C: Drive. You can set the initial size and maximum size after clicking the Custom size check box.Remember its better to keep the Virtual memory values the same.

Also having enough available space is absolutely necessary for your virtual memory and RAM to function properly.

    * Click Start, type gpedit.msc and press Enter
    * Go to the following location:

Local Computer Policy | Administrative Templates | System | Logon

    * Set Hide entry points for Fast User Switching to Enabled

By enabling the policy, Administrators hide the Switch user button in the Logon UI, the Start menu and the Task Manager. Note that the Group Policy Editor does not exist in certain editions of Windows Vista. Alternately, you can configure the setting via the registry.
Registry edit

    * Click Start, type regedit.exe and press Enter
    * Navigate to the following branch:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ System

    * Create a DWORD (32-bit) Value named HideFastUserSwitching

    * Quit the Registry Editor.
